DIABETES / PREDIABETES EDUCATION
The Patient Education Centre based out of the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital provides the following for people living with diabetes or prediabetes:

• Cardiac Rehab
• Diabetes Education
Individual assessments and follow-up counseling
sessions are provided by the nurse educator and registered dietitian. These appointments include assessment of your needs, teaching, counseling and goal-setting support for individuals of all ages.
Diabetes / Prediabetes Class Program is a series of four, 90 minute classes offered on a weekly basis on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 11:30am. The classes are offered on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 11:30am as well as Thursdays from 2:30 to 4:00pm.
Classes are offered at the Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital at the Patient Education Centre. They are also offered through Telehealth for the following rural sites:
- Assiniboia Union Hospital
- St Joseph’s Hospital/Foyer d’Youville, Gravelbourg
- Grasslands Health Centre, Rockglen
- Craik & District Health Centre
- Central Butte Regency Hospital
Gestational and Pregnancy Diabetes Program is an individualized program offered for patients with diabetes during their pregnancies.
Rural Diabetes Clinics are currently offered on a monthly basis to Central Butte, Craik, and Assiniboia. Telehealth is starting to be used to increase the number of appointments available and to prevent disruption of service during unsafe winter weather.
