Hospital Services - Hemodialysis
Hemodialysis is a form of kidney replacement therapy which removes wastes from the blood by simulating natural kidney function. Dialysis prevents a build up of toxins that can be debilitating and ultimately fatal.
The Dr. F.H. Wigmore Regional Hospital Hemodialysis Unit is a satellite dialysis unit. We work in conjunction with the Home Unit at the Regina General Hospital. Once the patient is deemed stable from the Home Unit, they may access our service depending on availability.
Our staff consists of Registered Nurses and a Licensed Practical Nurse who provide hemodialysis treatment for patients in the Five Hills Health Region. They are supported by Dieticians, pharmacists and laboratory services staff.
The unit operates six days a week, Monday to Saturday. Nine chairs are operated and two sessions are done each of these days.
