Welcome to the Heartland of Southern Saskatchewan!
We have many reasons to be proud and excited about living and working in Southern Saskatchewan! Our communities are friendly and safe – a great place to raise our children. We have a lower cost of living and short, quiet commutes to and from work. There is a strong cultural diversity throughout the health region and we are very proud of this.
Our picturesque and diverse landscape spread over 1000s of square kilometers provides limitless opportunities for adventure and fun. There are many great things to do in the outdoors all year round, such as golfing, fishing, boating, camping, swimming, skiing, sledding, hunting and so much more!
If culture and festivals peak your interest, there is plenty to do. There is the Gateway Musical Festival in Bengough (in the Big Muddy Badlands), the rich francophone history in Gravelbourg, the Willow Bunch Giant, the Shurniak Art Gallery in Assiniboia, the Moose Jaw Museum and Art Gallery, the Chapin Tourism and Nature Centre and many others. Moose Jaw is the centre of the literary world, once a year, when the Festival of Words, descends on the City in July.
Playing sports and attending sporting events is a favourite for many people in Five Hills Health Region. The Saskatchewan Roughriders, a professional football team are based just 30 minutes down the road in Regina. The Moose Jaw Warriors, a western hockey league team are based out of the brand new Mosaic Place facility in Moose Jaw. Almost every community in the region has a golf course. Moose Jaw is also home to a brand new Fieldhouse which boasts a beautiful indoor soccer facility and walking/running track. You can play hockey, ringette, baseball, fastball, slow pitch, curling, basketball, volleyball, swim, bowl, squash, racquetball, tennis and even some rubgy!
Moose Jaw is very proud to be the home of the Canadian Forces Snowbirds aerobatic team. Every year, our eyes are on the sky as they dazzle us.
